Fly Fishing Open Day 18 May 2024
Fly Fishing Open Day 18 May 2024
We will be running the annual event, open to all, including non-members. 18th May, Inghey Bridge, Skipton. Start 10.00 and finish when we are done. £5.00 pp, includes a BBQ banger and hot drink.
Access will be through the large gate (subject to weather), under the road bridge and then follow instructions for parking.
The purpose of the day is to raise funds for The Wild Trout Trust and also to have an enjoyable and informative time on the bank of the River Aire.
This year we have generous support with raffle prizes from Barbless Flies, Brown Trout Harrogate, Troutflies UK and from our own BCAA.
There will be Fly fishing demonstrations in the river from recognised experts including Steve Cheatham, Chris Hosker and Jon Grey.
The day is supported by professional casting instructors Tony Quinn and John Vautier, providing valuable tips and advice for tackle set up and “Casting, Faults and Fixes” throughout the day.
You can demonstrate your own prize winning expertise by entering the “Casting Competition.”
The Aire Rivers Trust is supporting the event, with advice on river entomology and information on how The Trust works hard to improve and protect our valuable river environments.
The experts from Leeds Fly Dressers Guild will be tying relevant flies and providing advice on techniques and materials.
Last but not least, the BBQ will be sparked up to provide sustenance and WTT support during the day.
